Private Psychiatry
A psychiatrist is a qualified medical doctor who specialises in the assessment, diagnoses and management of mental disorders. This may include the use of medication e.g. antidepressants. During your initial assessment we will explore your current difficulties and gain an understanding of the context. You will be able to discuss relevant events from your past and factors that can have in influence on your current presentation. It will be good to know what medications you were prescribed in the past.
Following the initial assessment, we will be able to formulate a plan with you. The plan will be personalised to your individual circumstances and needs. If medication is part of the plan, this can be initiated through a private prescription or a letter to your GP. Follow up appointments are usually 30-45 minutes and 1-2 weeks after starting medication. This is to monitor your response and enquire about any potential side effects. Thereafter it can be arranged as needed and completed in person, online or over the phone.
